ATHENS (Reuters) -- Olympiakos Piraeus claimed their ninth Greek championship in 10 years when Panathinaikos were beaten 1-0 by Iraklis on Sunday.

Olympiakos, who play at Larissa later on Sunday, have 69 points from 27 games while the defeat left Panathinaikos eight points adrift with only two matches remaining.

Argentine Jose Esteban Herrera snuffed out any hopes Panathinaikos might have harbored of closing the gap with the league leaders with a header in the 33rd minute.

Olympiakos secured their 34th championship and also booked a place in next season's Champions League.

The champions could collect their 12th league and cup double if they beat AEK Athens in the Greek Cup final on May 6.
